 NEWS!

•   As of October 25th, 2019 all questions referenced from the book ‘The Ultimate Tattoo Bible’ are no longer on the test. The state exam has been adjusted and the remaining 100 questions are sourced from the Oregon Revised Statues, Oregon Administrative Rules, Barron’s E-Z Anatomy and Physiology, Skin Deep, Infinite Iron (tattoo machine set-up, tuning and maintenance), and Oregon OSHA BBP requirements.

We will be calling upon our community to peer review any additional resources that are up for nomination to be included in the exam.

• There will be a position on the board for a Public Member aka "civilian advocate" starting in January 2020, and there has been a vacancy for an electrologist for quite some time.

If you know anyone who might be interested, search ‘Board vacancies’ on www.oregon.gov/oha to submit an application.

• We spent a lot of time this year advocating for a provisional license program (post-school apprenticeship in a licensed facility) with the state. Their position is that they do not have the funds or resources to support this endeavor, so we are regrouping on the matter and will discuss at our next meeting.

• We learned that if we want instructors in tattoo schools to have more than 2 years experience, including their schooling (which is the current requirement) we need to address it with the HECC, not the OHLA.

It is important we start a relationship with the HECC and they get to know us, so we can lobby for ourselves and our trade. We will need your support as we pursue this avenue, so please consider coming with us to one of these special meetings when we post.

• Home addresses will no longer be visible on new tattoo licenses.

We appreciate your attendance and support so we can best represent the values of our community. We encourage Oregon tattooers to bookmark our website on your shop or home computer to keep the resources tabs within reach. Please turn on post notifications via our Instagram page, so you can remain current on news, classes and other resources we offer.

Please contact us with any further ideas/comments, upcoming seminars, or offers to volunteer.

Best,

R.O.T.
